The LBS Centre for Science and Technology , Thiruvananthapuram the premier institute of Computer Training and Consultancy, registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary , Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 was established by Government of Kerala in 1976. The Centre was started by the Government of Kerala as an Autonomous body with the main objectives that the Centre would act as a link between the industries and technical institutions so as to benefit society through their mutual interactions.

The Centre is administered by a Governing Body and an Executive Committee. The Chief Minister, Government of Kerala is the Chairman of the Governing Body and the Minister for Education is the Vice-Chairman. The Principal Secretary for Higher Education is the Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Director of Technical Education is its Vice-Chairman. The Director of the Centre is the Member Secretary of both the bodies. He is the Executive head of the Centre. There are Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Administrative Officer, Finance Officer and other subordinate staff to help the Director in administration and financial matters.

The 22nd Governing body of LBS Centre for Science & Technology has given approval for the establishment of a Technical Education Complex at Malappuram in line with the recommendations of  Rajinder Sachar Committee report(Govt. of India) regarding the status of minorities. This project aims to improve the educational facilities of minorities in the northern districts of Kerala in general and that of Malappuram District in particular.

Accordingly LBS Centre prepared a detailed project report (LBSIIST-LBS Integrated Institute of  Science& Technology) and submitted the same to the Government. A suitable site has been identified at Parappanangadi in Malappuram District spanning 31.64 acres. Administrative sanction has been accorded for an amount of Rs. 130.149 crore(G O (Rt) No.2400/2013/H.Edn dated 06/12/2013) to LBS Centre for the establishment of LBS Integrated Institute of Science & Technology(LBSIIST) at Parappanangadi, Malappuram subject to the condition that the land cost should not exceed 30 crore and the recurring expenditure will be met on self financing mode.

The proposed Technical Education Complex comprising of the following institutions.

  • Engineering College
  • Model Applied Science College
  • Polytechnic College
  • Centre for Engineering Consultancy & Industrial Testing
  • Sub Centre of LBS Centre(Conducting Short Term Computer Courses)
  • Regional Centre for Disability Studies( Courses for the Physically Challanged)
  • Finishing School
  • Training Centre for Performance Improvement Programme(PIP).

Since the process of land acquisition through negotiated purchase is progressing in stages and taking time , it is proposed to start the following components of LBSIIST in a building.

  3. LBS Sub Centre
